FACESMAP and forest stakeholder analysis

Overview

FACESMAP was a COST project (European Cooperation in Science and Technology; FP1201) entitled "Forest Land Ownership Changes in Europe: Significance for Management and Policy".

The objectives of the project were to identify changes in forest ownership structures, to analyse management approaches and policy instruments addressing new forest owners, and to formulate conclusions and recommendations for forest-related policies, training and research.

The project was managed by EFICEEC-EFISEE (Central-East and South-East European Regional Office of the European Forest Institute) in Vienna. Around 30 European countries participated in the project, with Switzerland represented on the Management Committee by Daniel Landolt (FOEN) and Dr Eva Lieberherr (NARP).

As part of the FACESMAP cost action, the project "Forest Stakeholder Analysis" was implemented. This examined the interests and concerns of the stakeholders affected by Swiss forest policy. The results of the stakeholder analysis provided input for the further development of the Forest Policy 2020. The project was carried out by NARP in cooperation with the University of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences (HAFL) and on behalf of the Forest Division of the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN).
